Jerry Flanders, DVM
Dr. Flanders has been an avid livestock exhibitor and producer for over 25 years. He grew up on a grain and livestock farm near Noblesville, Indiana. His passion for livestock was developed during his 10 years in 4-H as a member in Hamilton County. After graduating from high school, he attended Purdue University and received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences in 1996 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. During his show career Dr. Flanders received a number of outstanding awards including Grand Champion Market Lamb at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, KY in 1995. In Dr. Flanders’ free time, he enjoys working with his flock that he raises at home. He raises registered hampshires and shropshires, and enjoys giving back to the 4-H and FFA community.

Living on a family farm here in Hamilton county has been a joy for the past 30 years with my husband Jim. We have two grown children and their spouses who also live in the area and help on the family farm. 13 years ago, I found myself burnt out in my nutrition job. While helping on the farm and counseling nutrition, Dr. Flanders asked if I could help out a few days a week. Here we are today, helping his ever growing practice to be better and better. I have a bachelors and master’s degrees in dietetics. As a registered dietitian, I enjoy keeping that up through a bit of catering and counseling. I love solving problems and training staff. When not at VIP Animal care, you may find me taking meals to the field, getting parts or even driving a tractor on the family farm. For relaxation I enjoy any kind of crafts, cooking and swimming in my swim spa!

My love for animals started from the beginning. I grew up on the family farm in Sheridan, IN raising sheep, cattle and pigs. I participated in 4-H and FFA and continue to volunteer whenever possible. I’ve been with VIP for 4 years and loved every minute! I’m currently finishing Vet Tech School and I plan to specialize in PEMF therapeutic treatments. Crafting, baking and spending time at the barn with my family are my favorite downtime activities.

I started my career in the veterinary field in 2016 with VIP Animal Care. Dr. Flanders allowed me to grow in his practice, giving me many amazing hands on opportunities. From there, I decided to root out and try other skills and jobs while remaining in the world of animals. I worked in many boarding facility’s and dog playrooms at daycare where I learned many skills, such as canine body language, and fear free skills. I have worked alongside a very talented groomer where I learned skills in bathing, blow drying, and how to perform a successful groom. I then returned to the veterinary field, where I started back in a AAHA veterinary hospital, dipping my toes into emergency Veterinary medicine. I then moved back to general practice. I worked there for sometime under some very talented Veterinarians. I have made a full circle in my career, finding myself back here with VIP. I craved the large animal medicine, something I continue to love and learn. My plans for myself for the next year is to continue furthering my education. I will fulfill my goals of becoming a licensed veterinary technician. I love all animals but dogs have always had my heart. I am the crazy dog mom of 11 happy misfits. We enjoy hiking, camping, and swimming!

I was born in Noblesville and moved to McCordsville. I grew up with animals all my life from dogs all the way to sting rays and parrots. I have a fascination for helping raise animals and that started by watching Steve Irwin and helping my papa take care of a baby squirrel. I was involved in FFA with vet science in high school. In 4-H, I showed my pocket pets and did art. I graduated from HSE high school and I am currently a freshmen at Anderson University studying Pre-Vet. My goal is to go to Purdue University to study vet medicine and get my DVM. I want to specialize in exotic pets as well as dogs and cats. I have 4 dogs (Titus, Tucker, Kobe, and Wrigley) , a tortoise (Flash) , a parrot (Henry) ,tons of fish, 4 frogs (Tad, Cash, Ripley, and Papa Charlie) and a kinkajou (Maizie).

I have been passionate about the agriculture industry ever since I can remember. From working on my family’s farm, to my continued involvement with 4-H and FFA, I found my passion within the livestock industry. Following graduation, I attended Purdue University to receive my BS in agriculture education. I served as an educator and FFA advisor where I enjoyed working with middle and high school students. I have taken a step away from the classroom to pursue my interests in animal agriculture. I have enjoyed working at VIP Animal Care where I can help educate clients on animal husbandry, and have hands-on opportunities with animals everyday. I currently run all social media platforms, and help with the marketing of the clinic. My husband and I reside in Madison County where we have 1 dog and 2 cats. We enjoy working together on his family farm and attending sheep shows. In the future, we plan to raise sheep for local 4-H’ers. We are beyond excited to be welcoming our first child together in August!

I’ve always wanted to be a Veterinarian, but it really started when I found a kitten with a broken leg and a horrible infection. Dr. Flanders allowed me to sit-in on his surgery and assist in his recovery. He now lives with me at home and is the sweetest kitty ever! I graduated from Carmel High School in 2020. From there I was able to intern here at VIP. Once I graduated, I went to college for human nursing, and ended up changing my mind back to animals. My dream now is to become a Veterinarian! I enjoy camping, boating, skiing, being outside, hanging out with family and friends, working, and traveling!

I am an owner of 7 animals. I own 4 cats and 3 dogs. I love animals both big and small. I love learning with science and history being my favorite subjects. I am a current high school student planning on going into pre-veterinarian medicine in August of 2022 and hopefully become a veterinarian in the near future! I sew, draw, paint, read, crochet, knit, quilt, and teach myself new hobbies every so often. I am involved in the FFA as a Greenhand degree member.

I have 2 cats named Chloe & Autumn and have plans to add some dogs to the pack one day. Golden retrievers are my favorite, especially the dark coated ones! I am also an aunt to two little boys and recently got married in October 2021. I was in the J. Everett Light Vet Assisting program when I was high school and worked part time at various dog boarding facilities in the kennel area. After high school I ended up going down a different path and focused more on Business Administration. When the pandemic first hit all of that changed and I found myself at VIP in July of 2021. I have always had a love for animals, so I love being able to use my administration skills working the front desk and also learn more about the animal industry being at the vet clinic. It is like the best of both worlds! Some of my favorite things are acrylic painting, visiting different state parks, and being around my family!
