The first set of puppy teeth are called deciduous, which fall out over the course of their first year to make room for the adult teeth. Canines have a set of 42 adult teeth.
Hard kibble is ideal for your canine to help naturally knock the tarter off their teeth. Canned kibble can be a nice treat once in a while but should not be a regular addition to their diet.
If your pet has had extractions or lost teeth as they age, you may need to add water to their hard kibble. It is still better to wet the hard kibble down than offer canned food on a regular basis. Many times canned foods have extra sodium and fillers.
