With the winter temperatures going up and down every week, it can be hard to help your pets get the exercise they crave! Depending on the breed of dog you have, exercise can be part of their emotional health as well as physical health. My border collie occasionally likes to chew up shoes (my brand new boots!) when he has not gotten enough stimulation and play. He needs close to 2-3 hours per day! That’s easy on a warm day, but a bear on these zero degree days. So we have many indoor toys and try to have 10-15 minute periods of play multiple times per day.
On the other hand, if you have a bulldog or basset hound, your exercise needs are less. They are pooped with only a nice 30 minute walk. Also, pets over 7 years will not need near the exercise that puppies and younger dogs need.
And don’t forget your feline friends. They need exercise too. Chasing your feline can be enjoyable for them. Laser lights are a great way to exercise your feline.
