Signs of Canine Influenza Virus include lethargy, anorexia (weight loss) , nasal discharge, sneezing, depression, ocular (eye) discharge, and cough or sometimes simply a low-grade fever lasting several days. In naturally acquired CIV (Canine Influenza Virus) infections, secondary bacterial infections can lead to more serious conditions such as bronchial pneumonia.

While there is a vaccine for CIV, it is just like the flu shot for adults–it may not be the strain your pet has contracted.  The best medicine is keeping your pet from areas where it can be easy to contract like pet stores and dog parks this winter.
