Now that it is getting cold outside, we should focus on taking care of our kitties in this weather. Most keep their kitty indoors, but some like to let them outside too. With two extreme temperatures it may be hard on your feline to go back and forth. A second reason to not do this is that predators have less prey this time of year, so your cat may be more vulnerable than normal.
If you are like many of us in rural areas you have barn cats. There is nothing wrong with cats living in barns. It gives them shelter and usually a very warm hay mow to sleep in. These cats this time of year need to have access to fresh water daily. I take a bottle of water out every day to my two barn cats. It will freeze overnight, so they need to have fresh each day. They will also need extra food, which will help them stay warm.
