So what about feline vaccines

So what about feline vaccines

Since we covered information about canine vaccinations, today we will discuss a bit about feline vaccinations at VIP Animal Care.

  1. Rabies
    1. Again rabies is required by the state of Indiana for your feline.
    2. Dr. Flanders prefers a 1 year rabies vaccine so he can examine your pet each year.
    3. Many of our feline pet owners have kitties who never go outside, so they don’t see a need for a yearly exam.  Keep in mind that felines are good at hiding health issues.
  2. Distemper combination
    1. This is similar to the canine distemper vaccination in that it cover multiple virus and infectious conditions common in felines historically.
    2. It is a 1 year vaccination and must be boostered in kittens.
    3. Distemper:  in felines this is called panleukopenia and is highly contagious and deadly viral disease.
    4. Viral rhinotracheitis which is an upper respiratory tract virus.
    5. Calicirus which is also an upper respiratory tract virus that by vaccination can be prevented in your feline.
