If you have a large dog, he probably likes his time outside to romp, play and sometimes get into mischief! Our old dog many years ago, chased a skunk into our garage managing to get himself and the wall of our garage sprayed with the unpleasant odor! So now what?!?!
If the weather is mild, you can leave him outdoors to let time get the smell off, but you need to check to make sure none of the spray has gotten into his eyes. If they seem red or irritated at all, you should rinse with water for a minute or two to help get the irritant out of the eyes.
If you want to attempt washing, mix the following: 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 teaspoon dawn dish soap. Apply all over his coat and rinse thoroughly after a minute or two. If you leave it on too long, it can bleach his coat. After this, use some of your regular shampoo and conditioner to help condition his fur and further rid the smell.
